Food for Charity...Yes, just delivered some Home-made Pumpkin Cakes and Honeycomb Cakes (Ma lai Koh) to a friend's aunt in the rain...

Her son's school is having a Fund-Raising campaign...to raise fund for their Chinese school's building extension. So, its Charity all the way for a good cause.

Hope they manage to raise more than what they've targeted for. Blessings.

Multi Layer Cakes - Kek Lapis Sarawak

I was in Miri last weekend to attend a Convo.

Tasted some of the local delicacies there...some were good and some not so good. There was one where the seafood was not up to standard, especially the boss who was real bossy...too arrogant n not accepting any feedback from customers...what a pity !

Then I was at a Nite Market (Pasar Malam)....Wow! There is this local favorite called "Kek Lapis"...(Multi Layer Cakes).
Its so colourful....could easily mistaken them for those colourful carpets or rugs....hahaha

All the colours you can think of...

The "Sum Cha" Kek Lapis....this taste good !!

Pandan Kek Lapis....so green (eco-frenly ha?)

Layers n layers of Colours....

A Special Sunday Menu

Weekend comes, weekend goes.
I wanted a little difference in the weekend menu or better still I call it "A Special Sunday Menu".

So last Sunday I cooked up something new. A friend of mine told me the ingredients and the method. And I got right on to it.

Now, here's the Special Sunday Menu: Marmite Chicken !!

It was delicious...not bad for a first-timer. Of course, thanks to David Lee for the tips.

Step 1:

Step 4 :

Besides the Marmite Chicken, another new menu was the Fried Pumpkin in Butter-Milk sauce. Looks good and taste good, too.

Its always a joy cooking. I just love going through Cooking Books, watch Cooking shows on TV and most of all cooking ... in the kitchen, of course. Hallelujah !!

Pu Er Tea Leaf Smoked-Chicken

Pu Er is a large-leafed tea from the Yunnan Province in China. For centuries its been known for its medicinal value.

And over the weekend, I used this Pu Er Tea leaf for a different purpose. I used it in the kitchen to smoke chicken. Bought a couple of chicken whole-leg, and smoked it in Pu Er Tea leaf.

Well, I'll call it the "Pu Er Tea Leaf Smoked-Chicken".

Result: Oohlala...so tasty...a real yummy !!

Tasty n healthy.....its a joy !!

About the Moon and Cakes

The Mooncake Festival, sometimes also called the Lantern Festival is just around the corner.

Do you know how this festival came about? The history of the mooncake originated from mainland China.

And along the way, it has evolved. Nowadays, Mooncakes come in different shapes, sizes, colours, flavour as well as price$...

Here's one of my favourites: "Ping Pei" Mooncakes...

Needs to be refrigerated, otherwise it'll become Melting Mooncakes....hahaha
